Helping Mothers in Need
I’ll never forget the first young girl who came into our free store in Washington. She put a hood over her head while she shopped for clothes. She was 15 and had a 4 month old baby.
She had no income and needed somewhere to find items for her little one. Since then we’ve seen every kind of mom come through our doors. Some are scared and pregnant, others are escaping domestic violence and have no where to go for the items they need. Still others are single moms, exhausted and in need of a safety net.
In all of it, I have prayed these women and babies would recognize Jesus in our stores. Ive prayed they would be removed from shame and meet the one who met the woman at the well.
When we consider how much Jesus loves every single person it is unfathomable. He makes a way where there is no way. I’ve been amazed at all the Lord has done in 8 years. This is a movement of support to mothers, which saves lives and brings value where it has been lost in our society. When we invest in the broken and vulnerable, we remove the opportunity for hopelessness and death in the womb, in the family and in the hearts of individuals.
We have so much opportunity to show the love of Christ to the lost. The world will always work to tear down the value of all of us. Jesus went to the cross to speak the opposite. I’m believing for more and praying for more to join the fight.
